Great pair of convertible steel armchair chaises prototypes

br

Country: USA
Period: 1930's

Description: A great pair of convertible steel tubular chairs with bicycle sandows and aluminum straps. We have re-upholstered these in a pretty patterned cotton fabric. These chairs fold completely flat and can be used as beds or lounges. They are likely prototype chairs, as we cannot find any other examples. They appear handmade and have us confused. while they look American, and like some K.E.M. Weber work or Lloyd Manufacturing, they may just as easily have been designed by Marcel Breuer, or Rene Herbst as the bicycle springs are typical of his work. Each of these chairs are shaped slightly different. They have wood armrests, three of which are original and the fourth has been craved to match.

Condition: Excellent restored condition with some tarnish to the steel and springs
