Description: An incredible marble apothecary that dates to the 16th century possibly late 15th century. It depicts a vampire bat on one side, a hippocamp on the other side and a wheat sheaf on the third. The bat is related to the Bacardi and Valencia families as a bat is said to have alighted on the shoulder of James 1 of aragon before he defeated the Moors. The wheat crest is probably a Valencian coat of arms. The bat figure is still associated with the Barcardi Families and is featured on their products. Each corner is adorned with a headressed figure probably representing the furies.Approx 12 inches in diameter and 10 inches tall.
Condition: Consistent with age with cracks and chips.
